The house is run by a resident House Manager, supported by a relief House Manager, and additional domestic assistance as necessary. The house committee and a network of experienced volunteers provide further assistance.

The house committee holds regular meetings to oversee the smooth running of the house, and the comfort and safety of the residents. They ensure that the Abbeyfield standards are maintained at all times.

The Manager and relief Manager manage the house on a daily basis, undertaking the following key tasks:

  • 24-hour supervision of the well-being of residents and attending to any complaints.

  • Liaising with residents, sponsors, relatives, doctors, etc;

  • Keeping a record of residents' details.

  • Overseeing residents mealtimes.

  • Supervising cleaning & laundry.

  • Organising maintenance where neccessary.

  • Liasing with the house committee.

  • Keeping a diary of daily events & accident book.

  • Keeping a record of expenditure and maintaining a float.

  • Planning menus & shopping for food.

In addition, a chef prepares residents' nourishing and appetising meals.
